Revamping The Pavilion: A Sustainable Upgrade, Kingsnorth
Kingsnorth Parish Council took strides towards a greener, more efficient future with two exciting projects that enhanced the functionality and sustainability of the Kingsnorth Pavilion sports building. As part of ongoing efforts to modernize community infrastructure, these projects not only improved operations but also reduced environmental impact.
Powering Up
The first project involved the installation of a new 32A single-phase supply from the intake room to a strategically positioned portacabin. This addition aimed to streamline operations by providing convenient access to power for various activities and equipment. The portacabin was situated within close proximity to the Pavilion, ensuring easy connectivity while maintaining accessibility to the side entrance door.
Additionally, trenching between the Pavilion and the portacabin facilitated the installation of ducting, further optimising the infrastructure for future needs. This groundwork laid the foundation for seamless integration and expansion, catering to the evolving requirements of the community.
Harnessing Solar Energy
In a forward-thinking move, Kingsnorth Parish Council also opted to install a 9.43kW solar PV system on the Pavilion roof. Comprising 23 high-efficiency 410W panels, an 8kW inverter and a 9.7kW battery with a car charger, this solar setup represented a significant leap towards sustainability.
By harnessing the power of the sun, the Pavilion not only reduced its carbon footprint but also generated clean, renewable energy to power its operations. The inclusion of a battery storage system ensured uninterrupted power supply, even during periods of low sunlight, while the car charger promoted electric vehicle adoption, aligning with broader environmental goals.
Why It Mattered
These projects underscored Kingsnorth Parish Council's commitment to fostering a sustainable and resilient community. By investing in renewable energy infrastructure and modernising facilities, the council not only reduced operational costs but also led by example in the transition towards a greener future.
Moreover, these upgrades held the potential to inspire other local organisations and communities to embrace sustainable practices. By showcasing the tangible benefits of renewable energy and efficient infrastructure, Kingsnorth Parish Council pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.
Looking Back
As the projects took shape, Kingsnorth residents could look back at a Pavilion that not only served their sporting and recreational needs but also stood as a beacon of sustainability. With each step towards modernisation, the council reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for current and future generations.
